Volver a Blog‘Appy New Year!
There’s an app for everything these days! An app to make funny faces, tell you where you parked your car, or even an app that only allows you to say “Yo”. The diversity of these apps extend to us as Seventh-day Adventists. More apps are being created to help us as Adventist youths with our spiritual life. Let’s take a look at some apps that you should definitely have or at least know about.
What better way to start! There are quite a few Bible apps that you can choose from. Countless features are there for you to make the best of. Bible apps that provide Ellen White commentary, allow you to follow a Bible Year Plan or even share scriptures as a picture. Some of them even allow you to comment on verses and collaborate with other friends that use the same app. Be sure to check out those that offer audio Bibles or even daily bible verses.
Hymnal
The number of hymnals in the Play store continue to grow but the features are just about the same. A number of them seem to offer the tunes for all songs, offer the Old Hymnal songs, favourites list and even a topical category that you can use to find songs. Some even have widgets that you can play the tunes from your homescreen.
The JAMU Morning watch should definitely be installed on your phone! I’m not saying that just because I’m biased, but it’s a great way to study the morning watch texts daily. The app allows you to view the texts for the current and the following week. You can also set reminders and easily share the texts with others.
This might not be known to many, but Heroes is a great app that will help you to learn about bible characters. The trivia-style games gives various scenarios and descriptions about bible characters. Test our your knowledge and see if you can climb the leaderboard as you discover some of the heroes scattered throughout the Bible.
How much do you know about Ellen White and prophecy in general? Here’s a nice game to test your knowledge and to teach you a few things. This app by the EGW Estate challenges you to “take a journey through a 19th century village and try to earn 200 points in order to launch the Pitcairn Missionary boat and earn a Pathfinder honor”. Another educational game that will help to keep your basic prophecy knowledge sharp and to even earn your Pathfinder honor.
It’s impossible for me to cover all the great apps out there. This is just a short list and we will be sharing more throughout the year. Let’s endeavour to use some of the apps above and others to build our spiritual, social and mental coming as we await the ultimate “app”-earance of our saviour, Jesus.
We want to hear from you though! What apps do you use and what do you like the most about them?
Regards,
Oshando
